Indian Army kicks off ‘Bijoya Sanskritik Mahotsav’ in Kolkata – Times of India

KOLKATA: A four-day cultural event titled ‘Bijoya Sanskritik Mahotsav’ was kicked off on Sunday to showcase the cultural linkages between India and Bangladesh during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War and bring to fore the various tales of valour of Indian Army soldiers and Mukti Jodhas in the historic battle.
Organised by the Indian Army’s Eastern Command in Kolkata the events include musical concerts by eminent Bengali musicians, film screening, a theatre play named

Ikhattar ki ladai – ek vijay gatha

and a fusion band (an amalgamation of Army Pipe, Brass and Jazz Band) performance at Rabindra Sadan and Nandan Convention Centre.
The programme is part of the ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ celebrations to mark 50 years of the Bangladesh Liberation War. Lt Gen Manoj Pande, Army Commander, Eastern Command, inaugurated the event at Rabindra Sadan in the presence of Veer Naaris and war veterans.
