Heavy rainfall on Monday morning led to waterlogging on several roads in West Bengal’s Kolkata. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the heavy downpour is expected to continue till around 1 or 2 pm on Monday afternoon.
Even Vistara airline issued an alert on account of the heavy rainfall and severe waterlogging in the city. The company tweeted, “Due to waterlogging on account of heavy rains in Kolkata, traffic congestion is expected. Customers travelling are advised to allow more time for their journey to the airport.”

Among others, the Lake Gardens area of Kolkata was waterlogged after heavy rains on Monday morning.
A local from the area was quoted by ANI as saying, “This is a low-lying area of the city. There is no proper drainage system. People say that the drainage system got damaged because people throw garbage on the roads.”
In a video, people could be seen wading through submerged roads in Kolkata after the heavy rains.

Cars and bikes had to make their way through knee-deep water on the roads of Kolkata on Monday morning.
