Coronavirus: Mamata Banerjee cautions people – Times of India

KOLKATA: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee while speaking at a programme of Khelashree on Friday at Netaji Indoor Stadium said that as the programme was conceived much earlier so there was no point in cancelling it, as people from far off places were invited, stating that the Centre has sent a health advisory asking not to allow any public gathering. She said that Centre has asked to take appropriate steps to control the spread of coronavirus.

She said that the advisory has said that there should not be any public gathering. “We have to save ourselves first. There is a fear psychosis in the mind of all, but still there is no medicine available so we have to take precaution.”

She advised all to use hand sanitizer and wash hands every hour and to keep safe distance and while sneezing or coughing to guard the mouth so that virus cannot spread. “Many international and national level sportsmen are coming down to Kolkata, but we have to ensure that the safety measures are properly followed.”

Mentioning about the Centre’s health advisory she said that for the time being all sporting events are to be kept at bay, but if the sports event cannot be cancelled then there should not be any spectators.
